Picking the Right Shoe
Picking the right running shoe is one of the most important elements when it comes to running. The wrong shoe can lead to injuries and simply make running miserable. As a new runner, it took me a year to figure out that my running shoes were causing most of my problems. I had bloody toes and knees that ached long after each run. I changed my running style, the locations of my runs, and everything else that I could think of. I never thought it could be my shoes. After all, I bought one of the best shoes on the market. After a year of trying everything else, I decided to change my shoes and what a difference that made. Let me save you some of the trouble and pain I went through and allow me to assist you in picking the right shoe for you.
- Take A Look At Your Feet. The type of feet that you have plays an important part in choosing a shoe. Are your feet wide, or do you have feet that are long and narrow? Your shoes need to fit the shape of your feet.
- Running Type and Running Terrain. The type of running that you will be doing is also an important factor when choosing your running shoes. Are you concentrating on speed work or are you working on distance? You may find that you need different shoes for different types of running. Your running terrain is an important factor to take into consideration as well. You will need one type of shoe for trails and another for when you are hitting the pavement.
- Take The Shoes For A Run. When you are trying on shoes and walking on the lovely plus carpet in the store, they are probably going to feel good on your feet. You need to take the shoes for a jog. Take notice on how they feel. Do they rub your heel or pinch your toes? Do they feel too heavy for your feet? How are your knees responding to the shoes? These are all important factors to take into consideration.
- Comfort Is The Most Important Factor. It is really easy to get all caught up in the hype over a certain shoe. That is probably the worst thing that you can do for your feet. If a less popular shoe is what is the most comfortable for you, that is the shoe that you need to use. Not only will your body thank you for it, you will find that your running will improve as well.
